MY BOOK HAUL

IMG_20170515_233739

Hey everyone, how is it going? Sorry I haven`t been posting for a while, I was busy getting some things done. Anyhow, recently I purchased some books from a three day book bazaar in Liberty Book (it is the best bookstore for bookworms) and the prices were reduced to 100-150PKR. So, being a bookworm I hauled as many books as I can carry.

I bought all books by reading the back summery, which is kinda chancy because sometimes a book summery is interesting while the book pace is slow and the story is lacking. But thank god most of them had good reviews on goodreads.com. I don`t normally read reviews on books but since I bought the books mindlessly, I thought it would be a good to get some views.

Enough of my chatter, let`s see what I got:

1. HIDE AND SEEK BY JAMES PATTERSON:

4.1/5 Ratings on goodreads.

Maggie Bradford is on trial for murder- in the celebrity trial of the decade. As one of the world`s best-loved singer-songwriter, she seems to have it all. So how could she have murdered not just one, but two of her husbands?

Will Shepherd was Maggie`s second husband. A magnificent athlete and film star, he was just as famous. But Will had dark, dangerous secrets that none of his fans could have imagined… that his own wife could never have dreamed of.

2. THE BASTARD BOY BY JAMES WILSON:

3.32/5 Ratings

Ned Gudgeon wakes to find himself in a cell. He has no idea where he is or how he came to be there, but- seeing pen and paper- he begins to write…What follows is Ned`s remarkable story, the story of his quest for his missing nephew, taking him from the corrupt and teeming slaving port of Bristol to the turmoil of the colonies on the brink of revolution. What is the truth behind the  mystery of the bastard boy?

3. OMBRIA IN SHADOW BY PATRICIA A. MCKILLIP:

3.98/5 Ratings.

The Prince of Ombria is dying, and already his sinister great-aunt is plotting to seize power. The Black Pearl is feared throughout the land, and the city folk know her reign will be a terrible one. Only the prince`s son can stop her from taking the throne, but he is just a boy. Ombria, it seems, is doomed.

And yet, beneath the streets, in a buried world of shadows and ghosts, a mysterious sorceress is weaving new spells, watched over by a girl sculpted entirely from wax.

4. STINGER BY JOHN NICHOL:

3.1/5 Ratings.

Sickened by the bloody toll of a war that cost lives of friends and the woman he loved, RAF pilot Sean Riever transfers to helicopters and heads for the remote mountains of Afghanistan.

His work there with the mine-clearance teams takes him as close to the shadow of war as he wants to get. But when a British passenger plane is shot down by a Stinger missile over the east coast of America, Sean is forced once more into the cauldron of war.

5. BITTER FRUIT BY ACHMAT DANGOR:

This book had really bad reviews, but I want to give it a try.

3.32/5 Ratings.

The last time Silas Ali encountered the Lieutenant, Silas was locked in the back of a police van and the Lieutenant was conducting a vicious assault on Lydia, his wife. When Silas sees him again, by chance, crimes from the past erupts into the present, splintering the Ali`s fragile family life.

Now from here the books I brought are all part of a series and had kinda of mixed reviews.

6. LULLABY TOWN BY ROBERT CRAIS:

3.9/5 Ratings.

Rina’s small storefront synagogue has been desecrated with anti-Semitic graffiti and grisly Nazi death camp photographs. The alleged perpetrator is seventeen year-old Ernesto Golding, a “rich kid” obsessed with haunting suspicions about the origins of his Polish paternal grandfather. For Decker and his wife, unraveling the truth behind Ernesto’s violent death becomes more terrifying with each sinister twist.
